Of Goodbyes and Hard Work

We regret to inform that Matt had decided to leave the circus due to personal reasons. Certainly, we are very sorry to for this as it is a great loss to us as a band, and sets ut back several steps. We do however respect his decision and wish him all luck in his future professional as well as personal life. We hope to see him again in musical context someday.
Because of this, we have been very quiet for some weeks, trying to figure out where to go from here. There is a lot to ponder and we have decided to not actively look for any sort of replacement for Matt - yet.
BUT if you are experienced in singing harsh vocals and interested in joining our circus (a bonus if you can sing clean too), we will not automatically refuse any applications for the band. We are open to suggestions.

Instead we have been focusing on what we were doing before; perfecting and polish songs, deciding in which direction to go. There might be some quiet time to come since our material is now limping, we cannot perform at the moment with this material and a vocalist short. We are sorry about this, but in the meantime we'll do what we can to come back stronger than before, with stronger material and a stronger show.
This has given us time for work on the material and in ways, at least I am a bit grateful for that. Now I feel I am able to do nothing short of awesome, and I hope you will see the results soon.
In the meantime I have finally bought a new microphone (which does a lot for my peace of mind, and our rehearsals) and we have bought some percussions to finally experiment with. Progress might be documented.

We will be back, hopefully sooner than later, with updated material, show, costumes and line-up.
Thank you for understanding.

Plans and Corsets

A lot has been going on, although not much have been heard from us. We are finally back from a little summer break and we have moved into another rehearsal space with lots of benefits that make our rehearsals so much easier and efficient.
Our ideas are finally coming together and we have started working towards perfecting some of the songs (an a new one, that even now in its early stage feels like its going to be a killer) and making them just right. Apart from the music itself we are eagerly discussing directions and designs for new things to come, like a website, among other things. That particular website is really on its way towards being finished and it will feel great once we have it. This place will of course not be forgotten, but incorporated into it.

Last Thursday you could have caught me whirling around at Story Hotel in Stockholm, giving out chocolates and socialising, for Viola Lahger as they showed off their new amazing Dessert Collection for 2012. I got to be all dolled up in a sweet pink corset from last years Candy Collection.
The new corsets are really extraordinary! There are a lot of thinking outside the box going on and not many pieces follow the classic how-a-corset-should-look-rules. The lines between corsets, lingerie, skirts, dresses and evening wear are very blurred and I love it!
Needless to say is that I am inspired and on the lookout (and thinkout) for new possible stage wear, if I wasn't already. Even here I am plotting. In a year or so I might get my hands on something white, shiny and rubbery, and I  can hardly wait, it is so right.

Breaking Silence

We regret to inform that after roughly six months, Evelina has decided to leave Circus of Lamia; it is sad that it would turn out this way, but we wish her the best in her future endeavors.

And now because of that, we also have a vacant spot for a bass player, so if anyone feels so inclined, we are open for requests.

Hey

Check out our interview we had at Molotov Studios before the Show at Stampen, the 12th June.

" Ikväll så förvandlas Stampen till Circus of Lamia's alldeles egna matiné. Ett band som rent musikmässigt blandar melodisk metal med gothiska influenser, men som visuellt jobbar efter att hitta en balans mellan lite madness och skräck "

Translation:

" Tonight Stampen is going to transform into Circus of Lamias very own matiné. This is a band that musically mixes melodic metal with gothic influences, but visually works to find a balance between a little madness and horror "

Read the full interview at the link here: http://fight-club.se/clubb/20120612/

And if you have forgotten, Circus of Lamia Live at Stampen the 12th June. Doors open at 19 and we will enter the stage at 21:30.

See you there!

Promoshoot in the cold

Yesterday we got all dressed up again to get new, accurate pictures of the band. It snowed, but it wasn't that bad because we had lovely  model and performer Ms Tea Time assisting our talented photographer Amanda Light with umbrellas and directions.
We really should have had an extra camera because they happened to end up in very funny positions while photographing. Oh, that didn't come out right... Use your imagination.

Here we are before we started shooting when we got ready, ate somthing or decided to block the camera with ones back... It was warm in here.

So... pictures will be published when they are ready. We also have a little film from when Tea tried to direct us poor souls who have no clue what the camera sees. I am just puzzled by the format. When I have it figured out I might add some music to it att upload it, because you can't hear what we're saying anyway and I don't remember, but I do like music.

More soon.

Hey

Another Review of Welcome Madness, This time its from an Extreme Underground Webzine from Ukraine.

" Futuristic avant-garde music spiced up with potential experimentalism & gothic metal is what we have on the debut 3-track EP from this young Stockholm-based quintet. The musicianship combines the abstract forces of Jade & Matt on vocals, Alex on guitar, Martin on bass and Samuel on drums. Throughout their sixteen and a half minutes long repertory you can travel into different musical genres and taste the freedom of the music itself. "

Christmas Announcements

Gorey Christmas to you all!

Even though i's christmas eve and all; the band has some news. Both good and bad ones.
We are sorry to announce that our bass player Martin has left the band because of different musical views and ideologies. We respect his decision and wish him happiness in both his personal, academic and musical life.

However can't stop the madness, no matter how we feel about this.
I promised you good news, and they are that we have found ourselves a new bass player!
Her name is Evelina, and we would like to warmly welcome her to the circus, to the madness.
Especially me, since I no longer get to wear a sign on my forehead that says "Token Girl".
Soon she will post her presentation here, and you will know more about her!

She and her magic fingers are our best christmas gifts.

Sunday - Review Hunting

We gathered our forces on the December 4th to try to spread more madness.

Instead of rehearsal, we focused on getting a review of somesort, in magazines, webzines and radios, etc.

So we met up, armored with computers and spread out in Alex's cozy apartment, our second home, searching for a way to spead out our insanity further, throughout, well.. Anything further than our hometown.

Researching mail adresses, snail mail, web forms and much more. We actually sat down to search this the entire sunday, for over 9 hours!
Let's hope the stiffness in our asses and backs are payed off...

Stay tuned for more gorey details.

Finishing Stuff

My struggle to get the other guys to post here once in a while seems to be futile.
I guess I'll take my responsibility and keep you posted.

This weekend we have gathered to finish up some songs, work on other songs, record demos and just get stuff done.

So far we have written lyrics for our tenth song, re-recorded guitars, recorded keyboard for a few songs and a lot of drums have been programmed.
As we speak we are working hard, recording vocals.

Personally, I'm kinda impressed, since we rarely get stuff done, we just tend to sit and chat. That is nice too, but we all rather have stuff finished. And this time, a lot of time has been wasted on sleeping, travelling to have lunch and then get back, watching YouTube, playing games and both Matt and me have been ill.
I'm actually considering napping on a couch for a while when I'm done with this.

I'll also give you a cute quote. Our latest song is very cold, fresh and wintry, which I wanted to convey to the other guys.
"I want this song to be like a Vicks Blue... That has been on the ground for some time..."

Welcome More Madness

Circus of Lamia has an announcement to make.
We would like to warmly welcome our newest and sixth member, Fredrik, to the madness! He plays the magical keyboard and his prescence in the band have opened doors to different sounds and effects, that earlier were closed or in need of so much more work than we could do.

We are in the progress of adding keyboard to all of our songs, and we have realised the enormous change in our sound. A music box has been added to The Asylum and strings and craziness overall.

Welcome Fredrik, to the circus, to the madness.

Currently Circus of Lamia are working hard to fit the keyboard into every song and also writing new material. Today we are going to record odd sound effects and crazy noises. We have a camera, and you will know how it turns out. It's going to be messy.

We will keep you posted.
Until then
